Royal Highland Show Praises Loyal Attendance

Royal Highland Show Praises Loyal Attendance - Show 2007

Royal Highland Show organisers paid tribute today to the 148,000 visitors who came to this year’s event, despite the horrendous weather conditions at the weekend.

Show Manager David Dunsmuir said: “We had laid on our best show ever with a tremendous display of livestock, a full house of trade stands and a host of other attractions and we were anticipating a repeat of last year’s attendance.

“The weather on Saturday and Sunday, however, made that difficult but despite the conditions, more than 75,000 people made the trip to Ingliston at the weekend.

“It is obvious the show has a core of loyal support and both visitors and exhibitors were determined to cope with the weather to make it an enjoyable and successful event.”

The final attendance for the four days of the show was 148,283 compared with 161,409 last year, which was a record for Ingliston.

Daily attendances were:

Thursday 33,742 (31,827 in 2006)
Friday  38,631 (37,644)
Saturday 42,734 (48,104)
Sunday  33,176 (43,834)

The show -  major sponsor The Royal Bank of Scotland - normally has an attendance of over 150,000 and the five year average from 2003-2007 now stands at 152,069.

Next year’s dates are June 19-22.
