Our People

Management Team

Chief Executive: Mr Ray Jones
Responsible to the Board of Directors for all the activities of the Society and for carrying out the policy of the Board.   In practice, Ray is concerned with advising the Board and then implementing the Board’s stated policy of Directors, strategic development, public relations, financial control and co-ordinating the work of the staff departments on a day-to-day basis. 

Society Secretary: Ms Adele J Thomson
Responsibilities include compliance of the Society in conjunction with its Royal Charter and Bye-Laws, providing governance support to Directors and the keeping of minutes and legal documentation.  Adele heads up the Society's Membership Department and is responsible for developing this.  Other responsibilities include managing and implementing the Society's awards and grants schemes. As Company Secretary, she is also responsible for managing the secretariat function for a number of other Trusts, Limited Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships.

Human Resources Manager: Mrs Candy Jones
Candy is in charge of strategic staff development and training, recruitment and management of personnel issues, along with the provision of administrative support to the Chief Executive and Executive Committee and general society administration.  She is the key contact for ambassadorial visits to the Society.

Show Manager: Mr David B Dunsmuir
Responsible for the implementation, management and delivery of the Royal Highland Show, including Livestock and Competitions, Trade Stands and Food & Drink at the Royal Highland.  Also responsible for the management and delivery of the Royal Highland Winter Fair as well as administration of the Technical Innovation and Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards. 

Commercial Manager: Mr Stephen Brown
Stephen carries out the day-to-day management of the Society’s finances, for keeping the Society’s Accounts, and for all matters with financial implications.

Estate Manager: Mr Stephen Egan
Stephen heads up the ground maintenance team responsible for the improvement and maintenance of all the Society’s property, fixed equipment, plant and machinery, liaison with works contractors and other persons concerned with the use of the Showground and premises.  Stephen is the key Health and Safety Manager on site.

HCL Director: Mr Archie Glendinning MBA

Archie is responsible for the active marketing of the Society’s premises, facilities and events which take place on the showground outwith the Royal Highland Show, working in close co-operation with the Estates Manager, and for the security aspect of the Society’s premises.

RHET Manager: Mrs Alison Motion    Royal Highland Education Trust
RHET aims to help children aged from five to fourteen learn about the countryside, food and farming, through the production of learning and teaching materials, the organisation of farm visits for children and farmer speakers visiting schools and children's groups to talk about their work.  A network of local groups, known as RHET Countryside Initiatives, deliver the aims of RHET on a local basis. A former school teacher, Alison heads up the Education team responsible for the management and delivery of RHET's objectives.
